OMG February 2021

With February being a short month, I want to make sure it is a project that I will finish - so a miniature is in order.  Please be sure to visit the LINK UP as there is always a lot of inspiration.

I save my selvedges and bundle ties to pass on to other bloggers, but this time I want to play with them.  My year's goal is to try NEW and I have never actually used my selvedge in a project.  February is to be cold and snowy here in the Nor'East, so some fun play is in order.

See - yes, we got the predicted 20" plus.  I stuck my head out the door to snap this in the morning and it snowed all day.

Sewingly Yours (with an achey back),

  1. Phew, and I guess not aching from bending over the cutting table. Keep warm, and love the scraps tumbling out in a profusion of colours.

  2. I always forget to save the selvedges and they are often really pretty. My year's goal was also to try 'new' so I'd better get saving the selvedges. Stay safe and warm in all that snow and take care of your back.

  3. That's a good idea to finish a smaller goal for February. My OMG usually goes to one of the last days of the month! Good luck on your completion. I know you'll finish.

  4. We got about 6" which is a little more than forecast. I finished about 2/3 of the shoveling, but still need to dig my car out of the snowplow piles. Needed a break, though. I'm getting too old for this stuff. We're normally in FL by now, but not going this year due to Covid. Have fun with your selvages. I keep a few cute ones to give to a quilt buddy, but toss the rest.

  5. The snow looks beautiful but it must be getting tiresome...
Stay happily inside and sew away to your hearts content...xox

  7. I've seen so many cute projects made with selvage. I've only made toothbrush rugs with them and I'm guessing that is all that I will make.

  8. Selvedges are not my cup of tea so I don't save them. If anyone wants some I could start saving. We haven't gotten nearly the predicted snow; only 4" in SE MI and the Sun today has been melting that. However Polar Vortex time hits this weekend!

  9. OH MY GOODNESS! I don't think I have ever seen that much snow before. It is very beautiful but it would probably get tiresome after a while. Have fun playing and stay safe and warm.

  10. When I cut my fabric yardages I always snip at the selvage, then tear it so I get a long continuance of it. Great for tying up gift packages, loops on pot holders, etc. Have fun with yours!

  12. Wow, 20"? Lots of reason to stay in and sew then. Looking forward to seeing what comes of your adventure with selvedges.
