Whooping Friday

THe Alphabet quilt is a top!  I think it took longer to cut the pieces than to actually stitch each block up.  I did cut the colorful hand dyed fabrics into squares for a scrap border, but when I laid them out on two sides I really didn't like the look.  The pre-cuts and rest of fabrics will get passed on.  I will look for something else for the final border on this one.

The next project for our Guild is placematts for Meals on Wheels for their special Easter Dinners.  There were a number of pre-printed pillow cut-outs, left over pieces of panels, parts of border print, etc.. from our Guild swap. I pulled all of those and they will be perfect for this project.

BUT first, I need to make the tiny blocks for Temecula Quilt Co's 'Tiny Tree' QAL.  I'm calculating that they just came out with the last block today and then assembling tomorrow, so I best get stitchin'!  Also, my tiny tree will be a bit larger as I plan to re-math the blocks for bit bigger tiny block.

It's c-o-l-d outside today!!!
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

  1. I love your alphabet quilt! Sorry to say, you might want to check the orientation of the last letter. At least it isn't in the middle.

  7. It *does* take a long time to piece letters. I did a different quilt for one of the Project Quilting challenges earlier this year. Different letters, but only four, and it took absolutely forever to piece it. This one is very cute. I might have to snag that free pattern.

  8. Oh how cute, and unfortunately Brenda is right. I never noticed it until I read the comments. LOL!! I do that kind of thing all the time, and only see it when I take a picture. So frustrating!

  9. Love the hand-dyed fabric you used in the alphabet quilt. Using the pillow panels for placemats sounds like a great idea.

  10. Love your ABCs!!! I got all the Tiny Tree patterns as well. Would you be willing to share how you resized the pattern? Not necessarily the specifics of your up-size, but the process by which you did it??

  11. I love your quilt. I made 2 of those when the quilt along was going on for my great grandkids. There’s more now, so they’re on my list of quilts to make for each one of them.

  12. Your 'Z' is sideways. I couldn't find any free patterns on her website. Do you have a link to that pattern?

  13. I've just recently discovered Temecula's Tiny Tree project and plan to make 2 of them as Christmas gifts. But, I have to wait for daylight to look for fabrics so I can get them started!
