Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2019

With the few red scraps pulled from the yellow Monster's tummy, I managed to get 10 Chandelier Bead blocks done set with the light braces.

Then the blocks set with the black braces.  With these, I am using up my skinny strips of w/w for the smaller beads.  What a different look!

I started a new project that required 38 Red Cross blocks.  Even my Civil War stash is lacking reds, but I squeezed just the amount I needed from the scraps in that tote.

I felt good about starting something new because I finished up another quilt - my second finish for the year.   The finish is for the Black & White Hop and the new is for the  Dust Off A Book Hop.

  1. Love those chandelier bead blocks. Wow two finishes already, that's great. I have two finishes as well but they are UFOs.

  3. Wow, thanks for sharing the comparison of the block. You are making headway.

  4. Your dark version is going to be stunning! I decided to use 3.5" for the centers so I think/hope 8 of each month's color will be enough for a quilt.

  5. I'm looking forward to seeing both versions of your chandelier blocks take shape. The black is a lot more dramatic.

  7. I love the way the Chandelier blocks are turning out. As soon as I saw them on Debbie's blog I knew they would be hard to resist. When I saw the dark version on Gene's blog, I was hooked. Two cataract surgeries for me this month, so I'm not starting until February. Maybe my use of color will improve post surgery. I'm looking forward to seeing all of the posts for the Dust off a Book bloghop. It sounds like a good follow up to the Book It sewalong you used to feature.

  8. Great looking blocks. I have a pattern for a quilt made from those red crosses. It’s been on my to-do list for about ten years. One probably doesn’t need a pattern for it, but there was something about the layout, if I’m remembering right. Now I might have to go look it up because I really need more projects to work on. Ha.

  9. 2 finishes already? That is amazing. The black vs white makes such a difference in your blocks.

  10. I have cut the pieces for my red chandelier blocks using a variety of light backgrounds. I'm really liking your variation with the black background and white small squares. Maybe I'll try that later.
