I have made two Perkiomen Blocks for a special call to assist and comfort the Thomas Fire victims. The Ventura Modern Quilt Quild has a very excellent post and instructions for the block. Also, Carole @ My Carolina Home is collecting blocks for this cause. Please consider this whether on your own or gather some friends, even get your own guild to participate, I know quilters are the most generous folks.
The next temperature rosette is very purple for the week as most of us are in this Artic Vortex. We were calling Tuesday a heat wave as we hit 20 degrees around 2pm! But we are to stay in this sub-temp with more snow for some time I am afraid. I even heard there may be snow in Florida today.

I guess with all this cold I am yearning for Spring as I pulled all the springy greens and bits of pink from my 2.5" barrel (I was looking for some more purples for the temp quilt). I will use these as leader/enders for a new project. The string tote is out to see what can be used for Hildegard. I think I am going to put her in a log cabin setting since she seems a bit outdoorsie. Why cut strips when I have them already - and this tote is getting a little hard to get the lid on.
I have morning errands, mail out my blocks (and bills), pick up a few items at the local corner Stewarts and then I am sewing away the rest of the day.
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon
Thanks for the mention, Sharon! Quilters truly are the most generous people!!
ReplyDeleteI like you Perkiomen blocks. I just read about Carole's effort yesterday and am also participating. Hoping to get my blocks in the mail tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThere were snow flurries even as far south as Orlando last night. We are looking forward to some cooler temps in SE FL soon. Be safe in your errands today and enjoy your sewing time.
there is cold, and then there is Very Cold!!! Drive safely, and the blocks for the Thomas Fire people, a wonderful way to participate and help.
ReplyDeleteMichigan is also experiencing a cold snap with highs in the single digits this week! The temps are supposed to get back to normal starting Sunday and I'm looking forward to it. I've been avoiding taking my infant outside due to the cold weather and we're starting to feel a little cabin fever.
ReplyDeletei'm still loving your temperature quilt and I am looking forward to the finished project!
20 sounds toasty. We were -17 when I got up yesterday morning. We finally got up to 3. I'm ready for winter to be over. Hope the snow 'bomb' doesn't get you.
ReplyDeleteYour Thomas Fire blocks are great. Our guild is assisting in the quilting of the blocks.
ReplyDeleteWow, that was a cold week! Hope you can stay inside and sew on the coldest days.
ReplyDeleteLast week was definitely a winter vortex. We were sweating the snow in Florida thing as that was the day the SIT was flying home from visiting friends. Thankfully where she was spared the worst of the winter precip.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this blog its very informative and useful for use.
