Do so hope not to offend my dear friend, but Barbara @ Cat Patches has led me down the path to 'NEW' far to many times. This fun stitch along just tickles me and will be great for those Slow Sunday Stitching days, also. You can click the button on my side bar to read about this project. One lady, two ladies, or the whole bunch - what fun. I plan to do all 12, but working them as single mini quilts for Christmas 2017 gifting.
A simple, but traditional heritage block - the Churn Dash. The start of the 182 Days of Solstice QAL with Pat Sloan. Again, Barbara shared this on her blog and I had to join in. Guess that happens when you've wrapped up your year and waiting for the New Year goodies to come out on the quilty net.
I have had this FQ bundle (Impressions - Clotheswork) for probably 4 years as well as collecting grays and a few yellows for a gray/yellow quilt. This is perfect to represent our Solstice here in the NorEast - it has been so gray, cold and dismal that we are all wishing for sunny skies and warmth (my yellow).
Have you joined in any new starts yet?
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon
That Barbara, she's an instigator!! LOL. Love your grey/yellow palette- definitely gives the feel of the shortest and longest days and everything in between.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bag ladies, and your fabrics that have been waiting, well, they are all ready now. Lovely shades right there.
ReplyDeleteI too looked at that Solstice quilt and was tempted to start it. but I have to get some UFOs tamed first. my friend and I are making the Farmgirl quilt so I think I better not start too much. I will live vicariously through you LOL love both your starts
ReplyDeleteI agree, that Barbara is a caution. I am also tempted by many of the things she shares, but fortunately lack her (and your) talent and drive. I'll be holding out as long as I can, honing my slacker skills to the end while watching both of your accomplishments with envy and amazement.
ReplyDeleteLove the Bag Ladies....so wish I could hand stitch a few. Will enjoy yours and Barb's. Love your color scheme for the solstice.
ReplyDeleteI'm playing catch up on the blogs again and haven't seen that solstice QAL yet, it looks interesting and I like the colors you picked, gray to sunshine :)
ReplyDeleteWrapping up Scrap Dance Waltz, and will be starting the new scrappy mystery in January. Those bag ladies are funny!
ReplyDeleteI have to be careful of what I get myself into because I am still working on the 365 Challenge. I did sign up for 150 Canadian Women QAL. It is Canada's 150 birthday and this quilt celebrate 150 women who had made it into history. Kat gives us a block and a short biography of the lady in question. Most interesting to read. See here

(just in case you have room for one more project, lol)
Love your fabric selection. I'm heading to Cat Patches now. ;^)
I bet Barbara is tickled that she has that affect on you, haha. I love the curn dash block and the yellow/gray fabrics are pretty. The colors remind me of some of the fabrics in Autumn Wood - Birdie and Paper Co. I have some of that line and need to find a pattern for it.
ReplyDeleteMy "who-to-blame for making me sew something" list would be endless. YOU would be on it, too! I checked out both of those stitch alongs but I'm still thinking on it. Love the fabrics!
ReplyDeleteOh, that made me laugh. I'm happy you've been inspired! So glad you'll be joining in on both projects.
ReplyDeleteI'm already doing a half-size En Provence with Bonnie and Carole's Scrap Dance Waltz. I'm planning to follow Barbara Brackman's Yankee Diary and the applique will be a challenge for me. I did think about the Solstice QAL, but with many WIPs, plus the RSC, I think I'd better hold off.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
Those Bag Ladies are going to be darling. I just participated in a row robin and my choices were gray and yellow. I love that combination.
ReplyDeleteChurn Dash is one of my favorite blocks. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteNooooooooooo Nooooooooooooo....I will not follow you Pied Pipers...giggle, but I am saving the blocks in case I lose my mind and jump in.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Barbara sneaky like that. I'm still digging out from her NewFO challenge, which was just too much fun. Looking forward to seeing those Ladies being stitched. I'd love to start in on Pat's quilt along, but the graduation quilts are calling. I found out just before the holiday, that I'll be out of pocket for a week or more in April, so those graduation quilts need to be done by March!
ReplyDeleteGreat block and I've been thinking this would be fun to do also!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you've got some great projects to start your new year off right.
ReplyDeleteI just discovered a project a week or so ago - celebrating Canada's 150th birthday this July. Next Step Quilt Designs is releasing 3 patterns every week, highlighting women that have influenced Canadian history / culture, etc. I've been able to make up a few blocks so far, but haven't blogged about it yet...
