Monday Making 3/14/16

I finished all the blocks for my 'Let's Book It' project and need to get them squared up and then assembled.  Kona Black for an inside border and binding and the yardage is the last of my 'Mellow for Yellow' and will be the outside border.  Yes, I am doing borders.  I think this is destined for Happy Chemo for the Hands2Help Challenge.

And here are the 250 HSTs from the cut-offs of those blocks.  They are just finger pressed at this point.

Here's 120 of them trimmed down to 1.5".  I will add a border around in Kona White and use one of the left over JR strips to bind - I have a small piece of minky for the back.  This will be a doll quilt and I have to find my dolly pattern so I can get the little cutie made to match.

I quickly made up the two new little blocks for the Temecula Quilt Co 'Circa 2016'.  I love these little blocks and may add some of these to my box of 3.5" blocks in-progress.

And when some of you heard I ordered 50 yards of fabric - you thought that was a lot.  Well I condensed my shelf yardage to one shelf so I had room on that top shelf.  The sloppy right pile is my original solid stash.  Packaged Kona in White, Oyster, and Black - staples with plans.  Lots of Kona JRs (3 stacks deep) - I use a lot of 2.5" strips or 2.5" squares and it is easier to use these for that.  Remember, there is 2 3/4 yards in a JR.  The left pile is solids from Connecting Threads and they need to be kitted into their project box.  Yes, they all have a purpose - that's why I ordered them.

Well, to that Book It and dolly quilt,

  5. Love your new dolly quilt and continue to admire you ability to sew small pieces. Anyting uner 3 1/2" square is just too hard for me...I'd probably do better if I slowed down on the power foot...LOL!!

  9. I'm often ordering piles of those "staple" fabrics. They always get used for something. Love your little blocks, and your Let's Book It is very eye-catching.

  15. I bought 20 yards of fabric, from our fabric booth at our quilt show ($2/yd). It only fills a plastic grocery bag.
