Slowing Down
While others get into the sewing Christmas frenzy, I actually get into a slow down mode. I like no stress thru November and December. So I have just been playing with some of my long term projects here and there. I made a few more Goosey blocks to add to the pile.
And I need to work a little more on this - my Let's Book It project. I had to ditch the needle turn on this as I just struggled. So now it is being done with my machine's pretty blanket stitch (I have 4 different ones on my Juki). I may not have this completed by the end of the month, but will hopefull have it to the 'sandwich/quilting' stage.
I don't like to sew clothing, but one of our student's asked if I could make a couple of these with this pattern. I think I will try one of each. And we discussed changing the way the 'binkie' is attached as well as switching out the velcro to a button/button hole. I think this will be my Thanksgiving Day sewing project.
I will be off-line until Saturday, everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon
I sew wish there was no stress in my life for the rest of the year but, yes, I have to finish making gifts and December is always stressful at work since we are finishing our fiscal year and I have to prep for Town taxes to be mailed by 12/31. No worries - I'll fit in some fun sewing ... somewhere!! LOL. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteSharon, your goose blocks are gorgeous...so bright and vibrant! As a fairly new grandmother, I am intrigued by those Blinkie bibs. Can you share your source for the pattern? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLoving those goodie blocks. I think those bibs look like they'd be fun to make!
ReplyDeleteLovely work. Looking fwd to seeing those bibs. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving Sharon, enjoy your time off. I like the idea of slowing down it's a nice chance to enjoy the season.
ReplyDeleteI just love those geese blocks. Enjoy your quiet time. I'm sure we will see lots of fun and creative pieces flowing from your studio. Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteEach year I think, "Oh, I will start my Christmas presents early this year so I'm not freaking out in December..." and we've seen how well that works! But maybe next year! Enjoy your unplugged Thanksgiving weekend!!
ReplyDeleteYour goosey blocks look really small and very neat! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteLove those colorful Goosey blocks. Hope you have a restful Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeletethe goosey blocks work so well and I am impressed with the applique. Like you I like to be quiet at this time of year, only have my three girls to buy for and they all want money so how easy is that! We will have our meal on Xmas Eve as Helen (a nurse) is working on 25th so I will be on my own and probably stitching!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours. and make sure the cats get some extra treats too! great looking projects.
ReplyDeleteOne comment about the* binkie bibs* I plan to ( play around) with making these too....
ReplyDeleteButtons are not generally recommended for baby items-- the button is a choking hazard if it comes loose, or baby decides to chew on it. Snaps might be a better option.
I love your goosey blocks! I so want to catch up with things and start making those!
Happy Thanksgiving! I wish you and your family a wonderful day and weekend. 😀

Love your basket block project! Yes, this is the month for small things and reduced push, so small items come to the top of my stack. wishing you a full and blessed Thanksgiving. See you next week!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your holiday weekend. Have a very happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Sharon! Slow and hassle-free sounds like just the thing! :)
