Monday Play

We are suppose to get up to 50 today - we shall see.  I took an early morning walk - in the mud - and you can smell Spring.  My furkids went along, but distracted by all the birds, chipmunks, and a couple of mousies.

Today is a good day to play with all those string blocks.  I decided to half them with a solid.  Originally I had pulled a lite grey, but I felt it muddied them.  Then a cheddar that over powered them.  Then I found this white that was in the donation bin - it lets all those fabrics and colors just sing.

And just so you know I truly had that cheddar goose missing from the last photo/post - there she is.  All the hearts have been buttonhole stitched on.

They are all sashed and first border on.  The pattern has just a plain second border, but I am thinking this needs a 'geese' border to finish the setting.  As I play with my string blocks I will think on this.

Hope you get some time to play,

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

  2. Oh...a flying geese border would be very cool on this and it would use up more of those scraps (that never end). Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do. And I loved your comment about the gray muddy-ing up the string blocks. I have that issue all the time with gray. I guess I just don't have the right color/value of gray. Of course, if it had been me, the solid in those string blocks would probably have been RED! My favorite neutral. Enjoy your spring warmth. They're saying 63 degrees today in southeastern Idaho. I think I'll dine al fresco for lunch. :)

  4. String blocks are some of my most favorite blocks in the world! Great idea halving them with the white solid!

  5. Cute little geese all marching along in a row, or couple of rows. A goosey border would be just the ticket. Are you convinced yet? You've had a lot of votes for that. LOL

  8. So cute the little geese. The Canadian honkers winter in the soccer field and flatlands near my home and we see and hear them for months at a time every year.

  9. I think flying geese would make the perfect border. spring hit full force here in Missouri and I have been working in the garden for the last two days just soaking up the sunshine. Hope the temps get warmer for you.

  10. Even mud sounds better than what you've been having. Those geese look so cute and I have to agree with everyone else, geese on the border.

  18. I haven't gotten to play in a while. Too much cookie business taking up all my play time. Just a few more weeks and things here can get back to normal.
