Slow Down

Slow Sunday Stitching

I think today I will take the time to slow down and join Kathy and others with some relaxing hand work.  I have 'cleaning the bathroom' on my to-do list, but I can certainly break that down into little work sessions with time for needle and thread.

The 'Button Tree' piece is coming along and I am hoping the two skeins of floss provided with the kit is enough to finish this.  It is a Cosmos and not a color I have in my tote.  I did find a DMC that will work in a pinch should I fall short.

And I started the NewFO project - the cross stitch kit I found.  Yes, I can work both at the same time.  They are laid out on my ironing board - this is were I like to work these - I hold by hand, no hoop - and sit on my high stool.  It just works for me - plus the furries do not go on the ironing board, so I can trust leaving them.

Will you slow down today?
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

  2. Think I will join you and slow down a bit today. I will make only one block for the Quilt of Valor I am doing, then spend the rest of the day with an appliqué and embroidery project for the Tammy for all Seasons Blog Hop. But NO housework OR cooking.
Interested in seeing the finish of your button tree.

  5. Sounds like you have a relaxing Sunday planned. We have company coming so I cleaned everything, made a lunch, and now am relaxing in my quilting chair until the doorbell rings. Happy stitching!

  8. I love your redwork block! I may try to do some slow stitching later today...we have company for the weekend so I have not had time for sewing this weekend. My blog has a post about a tshirt quilt I finished recently though... I have one more gift to finish for Christmas....

  9. Now Sharon, get real! Is there Ever a contest between stitching and the bathroom?? Not in my book there isn't. LOL

  10. I generally slow down on Sunday afternoons but usually there is no stitching involved! Just rest!

Love your projects and you seem to have found a good cat-free solution.

  11. Your stitchery is coming along nice, Sharon. I never use a hoop either. I find them annoying.

  15. Yes, I joined you and Kathy in slowing down today Sharon! I watched football with the hubby while I cut out some new Patchwork of the Crosses pieces for EPP stitching in the evenings. I love these blocks and stitchign them is so relaxing, but I have to make myself take the time to prepare them.

Your redwork stitchery is so cute! I love that tree and smiled when I noticed the fairy swinging - such a sweet, whimsical touch!

  18. Both are going to be beautiful finishes. Hope you enjoy your slow stitching. I was going to say it's a nice respite from all the Christmas madness and then I remembered don't have much of that as you have all your gifts taken care of. I am still so jealous! LOL
