I sent my dear old friend off to a Spa Day. She had been cranky and sputtering. Well the diagnosis wasn't good. Her motor was on it's last cycle of life and none to be found or parts to try a re-build. So the dear girl was laid to rest and designated as a 'donor' parts machine. She hopefully will live on thru other machines. I will miss you dear friend.
I had been scouring the inter-net, reading reviews, compairing and pricing. Well, I made a decision who best to fill the empty shoes.
She's metal bodied, simple (no bells & whistles), workhorse, and the most similar to my old gal. Since I will be on a non-sewing few days of activities, it will fit the gap of waiting for this to arrive,
I love my new (almost a year old!) Juki, but she is no piecer of tiny bits. She fills her duties of specialty stitches, button holes, monograms, and FMQ. I need that workhorse who loves pedal to the metal, use up those cones of thread, piece up those tubs of scraps, stitch with me into the night machine. And she better be ready cuz I will be so in the mood by the time she arrives!!!
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon
I love my Janome for Piecing. What brand was your old one? Hope it comes soon. I would be lost without a machine to stitch one for much longer than a few days.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your machine. This sounds and looks like a most excellent replacement. Hope you will let us now how well it sews for you.
ReplyDeletesorry about your machine. I know what you mean. I had a husquvarna classica 90 that was like she was attached to my hip. she sewed till the cows came home and one year during Christmas sewing she died. I was heartbroken. I use a featherweight as I had one but it is not the same. hope your replacement makes you happy.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad that your beloved machine finally had stitched its last stitch but I guess that happens to them all eventually. I too hope that your new one will perform as well as your retired baby did.
ReplyDeleteHope your new machine will fill the shoes of your old machine. There's always a little readjustment period, but then she'll fit right in. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWise woman to get a metal-bodied simple machine. Bells and whistles are more to things to fuss with and can go wrong. My machine is similar and purrs like a kitten. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh,you are the wise one to go for simple to fulfill your needs. I agree this is a good machine....the workhorse you are looking for. Get those pieces cut so you can feed her when she arrives :)
ReplyDeleteI hope that you will both enjoy a long, happy friendship.
ReplyDeleteI love both of my Janomes and I'm so sorry to hear about yours. I'll be talking to mine all day today about staying healthy.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing harder than parting with our beloved machines. You should have kept her outside. I've seen some great garden decorations on Pinterest using them! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your machine but I like your decision for a new machine , looks like a real workhorse !
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a great replacement for the old one. You do put your machines to work! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSo sad when our trusty machines wear out :(
ReplyDeleteGlad your old machine will be recycled and used in other ways! I also have a Janome and it is indeed a workhorse...I will never part with mine, and I know you will love it!
ReplyDeleteI love my Juki, but she only does straight stitching- no bells and whistles there! Sorry to hear about your old machine, but you'll love your new one too! I can't wait to see what you create with your new baby!
ReplyDeleteSorry that you had to give up your sewing buddy. Hope that your new one shows up soon, I go nuts when I can't sew.
ReplyDeleteAlways exciting to get a new machine!! Have fun.
ReplyDeleteYou will love your new Janome! I had one and it was a wonderful machine!
ReplyDeleteI use my Janome for piecing too. I have an older Bernina and I use her for chain piecing, strings, etc. So glad you will be all ready to GO when the time comes :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a match made in heaven!
ReplyDeleteI love my Janome - it's not my first Janome because I've traded more than once but I love the brand because it's so reliable. And I love piecing on it! blessings, marlene
