Feline Friday & Give Away
These stinkers! This is were I tried to get the furries to pose on that quilt for Pets on Quilts Show (still got 4 days to post up). They seldom lay here or even more seldom do they sleep near each other. Stinkers!!
I am still playing with The Purge (see side button) and have pulled alot of strips to add to some great strips received from two lovely bloggers.
This is a free pattern Sister's Choice on Quiltville - a 10" block that should use up those larger strips nicely. I have another star pattern drafted to use with the thinner/smaller strips.
And from that scrap bucket of brights - I pulled a few left over trims from my triangle quilt. Just enough to make 3" blades and get three Dresden Plates in each color way. They are 8" across, so will work nicely into cute table runners to add to the gift box. SO were is the give away?
I save my selvedges - Moda, Connecting Threads, Hoffman, Michele Miller
Kauffman, Windham, Clotheswork, Blank, Free Spirit ......... to name a few. I save them, but don't use them. WHY?? So I can offer them in a give away to you folks who love to play with them. So just let me know if you are interested and be sure I have a way to contact you (will ship anywhere) - open until Thursday Aug. 14th (10pmEST) with winner announced on the following Friday. It's all part of the Purge...
And while I wait - I hope to get Mr Bear quilted for that new granddaughter we are waiting on too.
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

ReplyDeleteCheeky cats! I hope you manage to get a photo. Perhaps I should have saved the 2 quilts my Molly chewed up to put her in the show. She is such a naughty dog.
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, lol, those funny furry friends, love your blocks and dresdens too and how lovely sewing for a new grandchild.xx
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a typical puss for you? Never doing what you want of them.
ReplyDeletePlease don't add me to the giveaway. Can't bear the thought of all those selvedges! Mine just go in the bin where they belong. LOL
I would love to win your selvages. I am saving them to make a spider web design that I have in my head. Thanks for the chance.

ReplyDeleteIt appears you are doing a good job in your purging. I love the Siste's Choice blocks. I would love to see your finished Dresden blocks. Please don't include me in your giveaway I too am trying to purge and that would only add. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove your Sister's Choice block! It sure is a fun block to make. Good luck with your purge. The more I 'purge' the more scraps I have. They multiply during the night while I sleep.
ReplyDeleteI love selvedges but it takes so long to collect a decent quantity!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I do love selvedges.... I'm thinking some pin cushions for Christmas. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI've been collecting selvedges too Sharon - not sure what I'm going to do with them though. Don't count me in on this one ... I'd probably just add them to my stash and sigh over them occasionally. :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteI really love those Dresden plates, great color. No thank you to the selvages, I've seen beautiful projects from them, but I throw mine away.
ReplyDeleteI have seen sooo many different projects with selvedges that look sew fun!
ReplyDeleteI love your little dresdens, I hadn't thought of blades as a way to use up scraps. I have the ruler, I might have to pull it out and finally try making some. I'd love a chance at the selvages, I have a cute pattern for a zippy pouch made with selvages but always forget to save most of mine.
ReplyDeleteI shouldn't enter this but can't help myself. Really need to use some of the selvages that I have! Enjoy that new Grandbaby as they grow up WAY to fast.
ReplyDeleteThose cats crack me up!!
ReplyDeleteNot interested in the salvages though I enjoy seeing what others do with them.
BTW. Please keep posting pictures and writing about those little "stinkers". They make my day : )
Cats have a mind of their own :-) wow , love how you are using those scraps , great blocks . I'd love to win the selvedges , thanks for the chance .
ReplyDeleteThe way you use up scraps Sharon I'm surprised you have anything left to purge LOL!!! Love your Sister's Choice blocks and the Dresdens of course! But I love your cats photo - you're right.... the Stinkers!!!! The new granddaughter will love Mr. Bear!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to add your selvages to mine and have enough to finally make something! Your blocks all look great! Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful babies sunning themselves!
ReplyDeleteThose cats have the life! LOL
ReplyDeleteI would love to have your salvages to work with. You are doing great purging..
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of Bella and Moe. They look hard at work guarding the house. The scrappy Dresdens are a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure someone will enjoy playing with your selvedges.
I love that bear print - used it in Lilli's quilt last year! It's one of my favorite. I'd love to have a batch of selvages to play with - I never think to save them myself!
ReplyDeleteCats can be the most uncooperative creatures sometimes! One of these days I am going to make a Bonnie Hunter's Sisters choice quilt. Love those Dresden Plate blocks! I tried to reply to your comment on my blog Sharon, but I kept getting a message saying the email was unable to be sent. So I don't know if you got them or not. But thank you for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI ♥♡♥ selvages~would love to receive yours

Good for you, Sharon! I, too, need to do a purge of much in my sewing room. That said, I have been collecting selvedges for several years and would like to make something big from them. I think it's the ultimate scrap quilt!
ReplyDeleteLove your Sister's Choice blocks and those Dresden Plates. You've done a great job with your purging.
ReplyDeleteCats will do anything to be contrary! I've made Bonnie's sister's choice blocks into a quilt but as usual I'm stuck at the border. I'm trying something but it's not thrilling so it keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the honey-do pile...
