Quilts are for Giving

Wouldn't this just be wonderful?  If it were that easy.  BUT, we all have those orphans, half done quilts, flimsy sitting on the shelf, or quilt that just needs a binding.  Want some incentive to be come an Insta-Quilter?

Purge button

Rachel of Stitched in Color has some thoughts on purging and some give aways to reward us.

Fabric N Quilts is hosting their annual Scrap Quilt Challenge - gosh, great way to use that PURGE.

100 Quilts for Kids has being hosted by Quilts in the Queue - another great reason to hit those scraps or purge out those orphan blocks, flimsies, etc...

And need somewhere to send those quilts.  I love making charity quilts and I must admit I have not participated in this, but this is where I will send.  Gene Black and the Quilt Angel project.

I've been making string blocks on old phone book paper and there are 100 blocks there - waiting to become a quilt.

You can also find some donation sites HERE at Quilts are for Giving.

I know our Summers are hectic and busy, but this is a great time to make a quilt with those existing 'parts' that we have accumed.  Purge, scrap, and gift on.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

  1. Thanks for the link to 100 Quilts, I lost track when it moved. I have a stack of quilts ready to go to the local Woman's Shelter.

  3. Some great ideas. I like to make a variety of choices as to where to send as each quilt that comes out of my sewing area has a different personality!

  5. Thanks for all of the links. One of my goals this year was to increase my quilt donations but I've been slow in doing it, so this is good motivation.

  6. I'm turning some of my scraps into colorful quilts for charity, too. Feels good to provide a little warmth and comfort to those in need.
