Scrappy Saturday

This month's color for the Rainbow Challenge is PINK and boy, did I think I had a hard time last year finding these.  BUT this year I had to really search thru almost everything to come up with a pile.

Good thing I am a little more mobile to get back into some tubs and totes and really dig.  Luckily I found a bag someone had gifted me that had quite a few.

I had ONE FQ in the FQ tote shelf.  I do have yardage, but really didn't want to cut into those for scraps.  I changed this block's construction up so it is just 6 geese units and 4 HSTs - so much easier and less bulk in the seams.

Enough skinnies to make the string blocks and what little was left, was cut up into the square barrels or tossed - no more PINK scraps.

  3. Churn dashes are one of my favorite blocks. I probably told you that last month! Have you ever seen them done in a quilt set on point? Bonnie Hunter has a free quilt pattern for Chunky Churn dashes. I think about doing one of those sometimes.

  7. I am in the same boat Sharon. I really had to dig deep to find enough pink, then I picked some up from the stash cupboard at Stitching Hearts and begged some from my friend Jan. Bit hard to find 88 x 2" squares and make it scrappy

  8. Yeah for finding your pinks. I still need to dump all of mine out and get ironing and cutting.

  12. Pink was a tough one to find in my stash as well. Since Drama Teen has never cared for pink, it's not a color I sew with often.

Beautiful blocks. And yeah for using up all your pink scraps. Also glad to hear that you are a bit more mobile.

  14. Nice job with the pinks! Glad you are getting back in the pink, too! Isn't it amazing that we have fabric and yet we hesitate to cut it? I have fabric that I bought for a specific purpose and I don't want to cut it for something else. Others I'm still not sure what I want to do with them, yet hesitant to cut them. Thanks for another great post.

  15. I've been scrounging for pinks too. I really like the string block and the woven 4 patches. It almost looks like you have 2 cat statues.
