It's finally here! Please be sure to visit our hostess Jacque and her helpers Padsworth and Dragondrop over at LilyPad Quilting. Still time to get that pet or pet quilt and link up. Go direct to link HERE
My furries were most uncooperative as well as the weather. We tried several quilts, several settings, wind blew things away, rain and lightening sent us scurrying - BUT finally...........
My entry in the Cat on Quilt catagory is 'Moe with Country Cousins'. Bella is actually behind the quilt as they thought this was great fun to chase each other around the quilt hung in the apple tree.
Moe pounding on Bella's tail as it poked a little under the quilt. This led to some more 'tom' foolery.
Yes, the quilt down on the ground and Moe thinking Bella is under it - NOT - she ran up the tree!! No , he's not the brightest crayon in the box.
And yes, He still thinks she is under the quilt and really stirred it up trying to find her. Shhhh - she's still in the tree - I think she was laughing! I know I was.....
This is a free pattern with Red Rooster Fabrics called Country Cousins and was one of my earlier quilts.
I love the little girls and they would make for a cute center on a baby quilt as they are quite large. You will notice, I was into adding buttons right from the start.
I added curly hand-stitching to the sheep - otherwise they looked like pigs. And yes, yo-yo's on those birdhouses instead of buttons. I can make them, just not a favorite.
And those silly chickens..................... The quilt is hand quilted and the outer border hand tied - like to mix it up then as well as now.
And pieced the back - do you recognize that dotty green? From the Hungery Catapillar line when it first came out. I thought it was perfect for a farm-country quilt.
And a special label attached with the blanket stitch. Dotty binding, but look - I hadn't learned to miter corners yet.
So - there is 'Moe with Country Cousins' as my Cat on Quilt entrant in the 2013 Pets on Quilts.
Please be sure to visit all the entrants and leave our hosts/hostess a comment, too.
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

ReplyDeleteCute quilt Sharon - I love those little girls! blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteThat's funny. Your cats must see quilts and think "playtime." The quilt is charming, and I agree that a child would love those images as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt story! That beautiful quilt definitely brings out the playfulness of Moe!
ReplyDeleteI see you have a inspector for your quilts..

Moe is simply adorable. I love the stitch you added to the sheep. Nothing is better than cats and quilts. One of my favorite artists, Jim Shore, loves animals and incorporates quilt designs in everything he makes. Gotta love it!!

ReplyDeleteSounds as though you had some fun with your furry friends Bella and Moe while trying to get great shots of them on the quilt. Pretty quilt!
ReplyDeleteI'm cracking up with Moe and Bella playing under your quilt (or one of them playing and the other in a tree). I recall when ever I laid a quilt out on the floor my cats would have such fun playing under it. What is it about a quilt (or blanket) that gets them so excited? Too funny.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts and cats too!
