Antique Quilt Show - Part Three-Finale

I so enjoyed the quilt show connected with a small community's foundation celebration.  There were many quilts and many of the same pattern, fabric, and time line.  So to end the show, I thought I would share some of the 'other' or singular ones in the show.  Hope you enjoy.

SHAPES

MILLWHEEL - 1920'S

TRIANGLES - 1890'S

YO-YO'S - 1936

GRANDMOTHER'S FLOWER GARDEN - 1950'S

             GEESE IN A ROW - 1930'S

HEXIGON - EARLY 1900

POSTAGE STAMP - 1940'S
yes, these were 1" squares finishing at 1/2" - someone was very frugal

APPLIQUE

TULIP TREE - 1885-90

HEART BRIDAL RING - 1930'S

PINEAPPLE - 1950'S

BASKETS - 1940'S
this quilt was sadly very worn before restoring, most of those lovely baskets were worn right away

OTHER

TAPESTRY - 1860
there were several of these, very similar in design, age, and color

MILK STRAINER QUILT - 1935-40
I have three of these myself.  This was a very fine cloth used for staining milk - texture of fine flannel.  The other side is pieced clothing of the time - tied with the cotton cording from feed sacks.

Thank you for sharing the show with me,
Sewingly Yours, Sharon

  4. I love all the quilts you have shared in these past few posts. The antique quilts are amazing. It's crazy to think folks made these quilts out of necessity, with household materials, probably in bad lighting and dull needles, yet the outcome is just as beautiful as what is made today! I hope to own an antique quilt some day :) Thanks for sharing these beautiful quilts!

  6. What beautiful quilts. It is funny how "modern" they are, maybe not the colors but some of the patterns for sure :)

  10. Isn't it interesting to compare how simple the fabrics were in these treasures vs. the wide selection available to we quilters today??
