I need to share my lovely doll quilt for the month of July - theme 'Patriotic'. This was made by the lovely Kim and I just adore all those scrappy flags - how cute are those?!! And a great star fabric back, quilted with red thread in a wavy line through-out for a fun accent. She also sent the sweetest cards. The patchwork hearts quilt by Doreen Speckmann was her note card and then she added a special card for me (to use - no keep) . This gorgeous Album quilt was made by members of the First Reformed Churches of Fishkill and Hopewell, NY (circa 1855-60)- in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Kim and I are about 3 hrs away from each other in NY state, so this card has special meaning. Thank you Kim for such a lovely addition to my doll quilt collection.
And as the saying goes - 'what goes around, comes around' - Sunnybec (Linda) was one of my May For Me winners and sent me this little package of goodies as a thank you. I love Fig Tree fabrics, so this little mug rug is just so cute - look at the little lace trim, ohhhhh. Napkins for 'being neat'. And what a sweet card - I collect Mary Engelbreit, so this gets saved for sure. Thank you sweetie - waving!!!
DESIGN WALL - I found all these great scrappy HSTs and made a whole lot of pinwheel blocks (3.5"). There are going to be used for some doll quilts for Mrs. Claus (see that reindeer button). And I think we are finally done moving those puzzle blocks around - YES we are done! I need to get them up off the floor as the furries like to help with the moving - not in a good way either. They will make my July 'Let Me See Your Jelly Roll' quilt (see side button), plus I think I have a home that needs it. ** I will be linking up with http://www.patchworktimes.com/ **
Yes, still stringing it along. I now have 100 of these little (3.5") blue blocks, but need lots more. BUT I do have a lot of blue strings, so not a problem. AND more leaf blocks. I need to make some dark green into purple into reds/rusts for fall leaves. Not sure how big I am going with this one yet but want it to be all four seasons - so yes, there will be some 'bare' branches for Winter. ** Linking up with http://sewlux.blogspot.com/ - Scrap Attack **
REMINDERSThe 12" Mini Swap has new sign up open until July 15th - Father's Day (Aussie celebration date)
Traveling Stash - Cherise is having a real problem with maintaining the flow of these boxes as participants are not honoring the TIMELY passing of these boxes. Ladies (and gents) - if you cannot meet the rules listed with these boxes - don't participate - Hey, I'm not going to be as polite. Boxes are taking 6-8 weeks to move (there is only the Leap Year box that moves once a month) - so not fair to so many who would love to be willing participants - would LOVE to participate. People who don't follow thru with SWAPS get banned - hard to do this with the Traveling Stash - it's called 'ETIQUETTE' - SO get those boxes moving, please!!! People are falling out of love with this as things are not flowing smoothly - and that was not the intent of the beginning of this - it was suppose to be FUN. And if you have won a box - sit out for a little while - give someone else a chance.
CLOSING THOUGHT
"No bought potpourri is so pleasant as that made from ones own garden, for the petals of the flowers one has gathered at home hold the sunshine and memories of summer, and of past summers only the sunny days should be remembered."
