May For Me - Day 17
I worked on this month's Schnibbles - DOC - and being a little one-handed, kept it to a small piece. I used some left over 'Sophie' charms with Moda Muslin. Using the method of pairing a focus charm with the background, sew a 1/4" all the way around the outside - starch the patooties out of them - and then cut both corner-to-corners to make 3" HSTs. The middle (card trick) were trimmed to 2.5" - used a 1.5" sashing and corner stones - then the 3" HSTs used for final border. Stitch in the ditch to quilt and added some tiny buttons (Cuz I like buttons). Used halved charms for binding and to make the hanger. Now I have a new Table Topper Stand mini - that took about an hour to make.

CLOSING THOUGHT
"How fair doth Nature
Appear again!
How bright the sunbeams!
How smiles the plain!
The flow'rs are bursting
From ev'ry bough,
And thousand voices
Each bush yields now.
And joy and gladness
Fill ev'ry breast!
Oh earth!--oh sunlight!
Oh rapture blest!
Oh love! oh loved one!"
- Goethe, May Song
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon
You're amazing, even with an injured hand! Love your Doc table topper...the fabrics are joyous, just like the poem! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteIt isn't a BINGO, but progress is made
ReplyDeleteAnd onto the bird, a button is laid.
But Friday is coming and I'll be away
Out with the Scouts, for a night and a day,
Under the trees, oh what could be better,
To forget about things, lined up on the letter.
Have a great weekend!
great mini table topper.xx
ReplyDeleteCute project! The cut has slowed you down, but hasn't stopped you from sewing. Good for you :D
ReplyDeleteHow sweet your little hanging is...I've always enjoyed that block pattern. And we must still be having similar weather ... our day reflects the sentiment of today's poem! :)
ReplyDeleteLove those colors. Sorry about your little mishap and hope you heal quickly!
ReplyDeleteLesley is so right AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteYour mini looks great. I have been using the same method recently to make HSTs and am currently making a list of what size squares give what size triangles.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Sharon. I just love moda muslin. I wouldn't use anything else.
ReplyDeleteAre all schnibbles small quilts? I've seen them talked about. I know there is a quilt along or something. But I really don't know much about them.
