Cherry Christmas
A reminder that this Saturday is the Christmas Quilt Along. The Fiestive Mystery Quilt can certainly be done in any fabric/color and we are just getting into the first block construction so don't feel like you are too far behind to join in. OR join us with some other little giftie project. This month's Quilt-A-Long hostess will be Joanna at Neelde Thread Happiness. I have my quilt fabrics cut and ready and a small project on the side.
And 'Made in Cherry' is officially finished. I chose to use 2" scrappy red squares and machine quilted with a diamond cross-hatch. I used a craft weight felt for batt - spritzed with water and hot air dried to shrink - then ironed to felt. This is one wallhanging that 'hangs straight'.
I used a Windham reproduction for backing and same for binding. This will be entered in our quild show and hopefully in our regional Quilter's Hall of Fame show (by invite). (32" square)

I have 12 other projects on the go, but not going to show bits here today - my house is a shambles!! A lot of projects to finish by the end of this month - a lot of my side buttons will be coming down at the end of the month - BUT I have a list of new ones that will be added for April. Hope you are progressing (and joining in) with your Bingo Cards - more prizes have been donated. Selina thank you for your triangle trims - I am already sewing them up tonight - just had to play with them!
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

ReplyDeleteMade in Cherry is Gorgeous!!! I am loving all those little squares inside the star!! ... Did you use a pattern, or just work it out yourself? Would love to try this out one day in the future!!! It looks absolutely fantastic! (Can you guess that I love it, lol!)
ReplyDeleteI still love your Made in Cherry - and getting one to hang straight is one of the hardest things I try to do! Not sure why most things turn our lopsided but they do. :) blessings, marlene

ReplyDeleteMade in Cherry is beautiful! That is so interesting that you used felt as the batting!
ReplyDeleteMade in Cherry,,,love the name and the colors! 12 projects?...I am lucky to have about 5, or is it 6???. I would be completely frustrated if I had 12...would want to work on all of them at once...
ReplyDeleteLove Made in Cherry! I can't imagine ME making anything that hangs straight. lol
ReplyDeleteSo many neat projects in the works.
My, my, you've been busy! The Made in Cherry wall hanging is just a great quilt! I don't think I've seen craft weight felt--have to keep an eye out for that, as it does look to be a great way to keep the wall hangings flat. The diamond cross-hatch is perfect for the design too.
ReplyDeleteLove your made in Cherry quilt. I like the smaller size for it. I went the opposite direction and used charm squares :)
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I'm on a "Fabric Fast" this year and I'm always on the hunt for great uses of my existing stash and scraps. (I've got to clean out to make room for all the fabric I plan to buy on Jan 1, 2013!) A wall hanging like this is the perfect use of all those tiny scraps I can't bear to part with but don't know what to do with.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteAll the crosshatching is very pretty and your star is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteMade in Cherry is next on my list, after finishing 2 others. Yours is so cute that it makes me want to hurry up. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI love that cherry red star! You've still a lot of month left, I look forward to seeing what all you've got going!
ReplyDeleteI love your scrappy star.
ReplyDeleteFabulous!
ReplyDeleteI too love your scrappy star. I also think the cross hatch is a perfect quilting accent for this one.
