The hand has been a symbol through the ages and in many cultures. Some hand 'expressions':

The last few days have been all about 'Hands' for me. Coping with storms (a level 3 tornado on Tuesday had me wringing my hands), a rogue 'cable guy' cutting my lines and then trying to get assistance. Thank you neighbor for lending a hand in reporting someone on our vast property. Needing a hand to get around - no vehicle and STILL nervous about driving myself when loaned a vehicle. A grandchild needing special hands to help with an illness. Caring hands for daughter and SIL to cope with sick child. A helping hand from a cyber friend on dealing with an elderly parent. Extending my own hand in assisting someone in need. And waiting to see what the government is going to leave me in hand should I lose my only income.

BUSY HANDS
I had some helping hands with cleaning my work/living space as I had everything torn apart to 'analyse' my cable problems. See what happens when I clear a spot! And that is a new Square Up tutorial I am working on - a sharing hand.
This was my distraction from all those HAND expressions. I finished my Simple Treasures quilt - Charming Girl's Club last project. Moda's 'Strawberry Fields' charm packs that were given to me by a cyber friend for my birthday, scrap muslin, and Connecting Threads' strawberry print (stars) and Bernatex 'Meadow' print for the back. AND buttons!

ReplyDeleteYesterday I saw a pair of gloves (NC State college gloves to be exact) that were red and on the tip of each finger was a red and white pom pom about 1-1/2" round. Oh, how I wanted those gloves - $19.99 - so left them at the store, but they were so cute. Just couldn't decide at age 70 where I would wear them and why. LoL Your hands post reminded me of a lovely memory. Judy C

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that this has been a rough week for you and you family. Tornadoes are scary. Seems like we can't have a regular summer thunder storm here in NC anymore. It must have high winds, dangerous lightening, hail, flooding, and a tornado or two or more thrown into the mix.
You and your family are in my thoughts.

Love that quilt! Your kitty looks like mine. Tama is always, always, always climbing on my sewing table and fabric as soon as my back is turned. Drives me insane, since as soon as I walk back out here again he looks at me like "nyah nyah" and jumps right down.

Great, great post, Sharon!! I granny sit a 93 year old woman who has lost her eyesight. We were talking today and while chatting, I was wondering how I would handle life if I lost my eyesight and my HANDS!!! I always hope I have a hand that will assist, love and care and support others!!! Thank you for your words today!! I hope you and yours are all getting through these trying times!! Kris

ReplyDeleteAnd I also am waiting to see what the government is going to decide. I'm eligible for retirement, but have four family members that depend on me to supplement their income so they can struggle from month to month. So retirement has been as elusive as a butterfly to me lately. I had thought I'd have to remain working for another 6-7 years. But with the recent talk about changing our retirement from the hi-3 to hi-5, increasing our retirement contributions, and having frozen our cost of living raises, staying with the government with these axes hanging over my head is not fun.
You're truly an angel to me, Sharon. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. And thank you again for your generosity. It's greatly appreciated.
