Under The Nose

This is Vroman's Nose - a predominant landmark in our area.  Yes, a connection to my ancestry and you can read more about it HERE.  It is near the village of Middleburgh where our Quilt Guild meets - so we are a bit 'under the nose'.

This is the little shop we went to - Under the Nose.  Re-invented and renovated after flood Irene by two 'home-grown' folks.  They are right next to the Vroman's Nose trail park/start, so a nice little spot to sit and relax after the hike.

Tom and Lin Quinn - lovely couple that have added greatly to the community and the regrowth of the Valley.  Tom's mother was an inductee of the Catskill Mountain Quilters Hall of Fame and came many years to quilt with my mother until her passing.

The shop was actually closed, but Lin was very gracious once I explained we were putting together a raffle basket for the Hall of Fame.  You can see more of the shop HERE.  Tom is the master fudge maker and Lin makes the most adorable bits in clay.  As well, they carry and promote items of area artisans.

If you are ever in the area - stop in.

Monday Making 9/19/16

Since I have been on the road (the other end of town) and just working with hand quilting or hand piecing, I needed some time with my machine today.  I'm joining BETH with some Monday Making.

I've been working this basket of scraps down (before I tackle the next bag).  Variety is running slim so I may need to refresh this.

I'm working Bonnie Hunter's hourglass challenge with units worked into some block making.  These ten I had done some time ago.

I managed to pair/cut up ten more and have them ready for some sew time mixed in with catching up around the house.  The whites are from a seperate tote and that stuff is getting used up, too.

See, the colors are a bit muddle and muted, so I definitely need to just chop down the rest of the scraps in that basket into my barrel system and add some fresh scraps into the mix.

Tomorrow my SIL and I are taking a bit of ME time with a trip to a local shop we have yet to visit - will share.

Weekend Fibers

This is were I was all weekend with quilters and rug hookers.

We had the entire upstairs in the old Creamery on Depot Station.

Three photos show the pan around the quilter's set up.

The rug hookers had a lovely display but with half the room painted black/dark green and the other side a light with all the bright windows, many of my photos didn't come out well.

See - on the light side of the room.  I wanted to buy this piece but the creator wasn't selling (and I pestered her all weekend).  This is 'Pendleton Pig' because it is made all in Pendleton wool - I love piggies!  And she did a bit of Tramputo to puff out the piggy - and she is in plaid - sqeeeeee!!

I need my sewing machine,

Help for Hexi-Aholics

Thanks to Stephanie, I have a photo of me working my Hexies at the fiber display.  I brought my Pumpkin Seed blocks, too - but it was the hexies that were a hit.  Two more were added to the pile and I should be able to get at least one more done tomorrow.

These are my co-horts this weekend - Sharon (representing the Quilt Barn Trail) and Stephanie (representing the Peaceable Day Quilt Guild) - I represented the Schoharie Valley Piecemakers Quilt Guild.  Stephanie brought this Grandmother's Flower Garden in pieces to our wonderful class with Sarah.  She had started it about 7 yrs ago by machine, but after Sarah's class she took it all apart and did it all by hand.   Look Sarah!!  She is starting to work the border now.

So I can join both Sarah Did It and Slow Sunday Stitching

AND Saturday was the Airing of the Quilts thru-out the county.  I hung quilts all around our porches and clothes lines before I had to head out - NO PHOTOS as I had my camera down at the fiber show building.  I'm hoping someone posts on FB or sends me some.

This was Stephanie's 'Airing' - what a lovely grouping of quilts.

This long fence line of quilts was sent to me by our Guild president - yeah Kathy!!

I will share photos of the fiber show tomorrow,
