Changing It Up

After dealing with all those borders and completing things to a flimsy stage, I needed a change.  This poor quilt has been waiting so long for it's turn under the needle.  I just love my Juki - hard to believe I have had it almost a year.  See Moe in the upper corner?  I had to give him a towel to lay on because he kept laying on the quilt and I just could not move it with him attached.

And I always have to destress by working with tiny.  Most people have to work the other way round, but I find large blocks and quilts make me nervous, so I have to go back to my true love - tiny scraps.

This is the Cascadia Mystery over at Humble Quilts and I saw someone post it on their blog - just had to jump on this because I love playing with tiny.  Yes, those are 1.5" squares and I didn't have to cut them as I have that size in one of my barrels.

And I am up to date on the Little Letters QAL.  These smaller projects I can play with on my other machine - just to take a break from the quilting.  I am so happy my old Brother is working, just getting use to it's little quirks again.

Just a reminder - there will be new buttons added as well some removed, from the sidebar.  Boy, 4 hops going at the same time was a little confusing and tiring.  I am watching out for new and next year projects coming out and will be adding them for your interest.

Sewingly Yours,
Sharon

I love my Juki too. I took out my singer they other day and it was so slow. I am just so use to my Juki. You are right, I would rather work on large blocks than small. It looks great. Thanks for keeping us updated on the going on's in blog world. Have a nice weekend.

I like the tiny scraps you're using, putting them on point like that might have made me crazy.

I know that cat quilting problem. Sometimes they are a little too helpful.

Oh, wow, Sharon - you are the BEST!! You know, I don't often look at sidebars because . . . I don't know why, but when you mentioned the change, I looked over and saw a picture I recognized!! Thank you soooooooooo much for letting folks know I have a sale going on every Monday!! And your Cascadia Mystery blocks are great!! Love all the scrappiness!

I work with crumbs smaller than 1.5" but when I deliberately cut squares that size I just thought they were too small and decided my smallest squares in the scrap containers would be 2"... Anything smaller than that ended up in the crumb containers. Those rows made of tiny squares look fabulous!

Time constraints make me nervous. When I worked in the corporate world, I thrived on deadlines. Now that fibromyalgia seems to be a minor king in my life, stress is no longer my friend. I do better by pacing myself. I just joined two hops - it'll be my first Tammy bag and the breast cancer hop, since I'm a survivor. I'll be excited to see what you make for the four at once. I'm thrilled to think I'm well enough physically and emotionally to take these on. Plus I've decided to try to make 9 dishclothes between now and Dec. 15th for my small widow's group at church. Plus I have about 2 hours of Bible study to do at home 6 days a week for a Discipleship class, plus class for 2 hours the other day a week. We are about 1/3 of the way through the 34 week class. At least no class this week. Thanks for sharing your pretties, my lovely.

It's funny that we are all so different when it comes to the relaxing kinds of stitching Sharon. Tiny pieces intimidate me, but then so do the big things. I take a break by making quick projects - they allow me to take a deep breath and then tackle something more intricate. blessings, marlene

Glad to see you enjoying your new machine. I can't believe it's been a year already either...no wonder I'm feeling so old.
