I don't have a lot to Whoop about, but will join SARAH today - you need to check out her new string quilt! The week has been busy with preparing for the weekend garage sale for our Town Wide Garage Sale - Saturday. I went into town today for errands and there people set up and selling today - geesh.
I prepped and made one block already for the Mod Bear Paw QAL. You don't need to buy the pattern (but I did cuz' I think it is stinkin' awesome) as Lorna will be walking you thru cutting, pattern, and piecing thru out the QAL. Since I am going scrappy and my schedule is a zoo for the month of September, I decided to cut out enough for a few blocks - so when I can grab machine time, it will be ready.
I prepped the next two rows for the '365' circle quilt. I hope tonight I can get the squares prepped into the circles, pinned and threads pulled so I can work these at night as my 'down' time.
The month's 'Adinkra' block is ready for finishing. I've been zig-zag finishing, which is not a technique I normally use - we have to work outside our comfort zone at times. I just thought it added to the look of this quilt.
It is, also, Feline Friday - BUT, my felines have been missing. Not gone missing, but staying out of the way while things are getting moved around. Bella hates change and is totally scattered by all this. Moe is hiding in any empty box he can find - until we need it or decide it needs breaking down for the recycle pile. So I have this fabric instead - maybe you can find them hiding in this piece.
Hope you have a lovely weekend,
Sewingly Yours,
Sharon
Super Adinkra symbol block, are you doing them all? For applique, I use the slanted button hole stitch on my Bernina, and I think any stitch adds to the applique and makes it stand out more.
ReplyDeleteI still need to get fabric for the Bears Paw QAL. I usually never do something like others, but, I really liked her fabric choices for the large one she made. I know a shop that sells that brand, so, hopefully tomorrow, I'll get my fabric. Of course, I could shop my stash, and still have tons of fabric left over (and not even scrappy stash, either).
ReplyDeleteBoth the bear paw and the Adinkra blocks look great. Poor kitties. I'd be hiding too.
ReplyDeletemine are hiding as well because next Sat is our yardsale. maybe they are together? ha ha love your start to the bear quilt. will look great!
ReplyDeleteHere's to a great sale and hope things settle down afterward:)
ReplyDeleteSharon, you always have such great projects on the go! I will watch that bear paw QAL with interest. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteSweet kitty fabric!! I think you need a whoop, whoop, anyways!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are sure one busy stitcher! Each of your projects looks super cute. And so is that fabric! It reminds me of my first quilt - made for my daughter. She is a cat fanatic!
ReplyDeleteSounds like our yard sale Saturday day with people already selling on Thursday. Geesh. I forgot about the bear quilt - better look that up again.
ReplyDeleteSure love your bear claw!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your Bear Paw come together. I really want to make that quilt, but I'll hope that seeing yours come together will keep me from starting it. No pressure! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of joining in too with the bear paw QAL. Fingers crossed.
